Lake Winnipesaukee & Mount Monadnock in NH and Hogback Mountain in VT

Day 4: Visit Lake Winnipesaukee & Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire, and Hogback Mountain in Vermont

Lake Winnipesauke:

We checked out from hotel and started towards Winnipesaukee Lake. This lake is the largest in the New Hampshire. There are several towns surrounding the lake including the Laconia and 250+ small islands. Weirs Beach is the largest public beach here. View of the lake was beautiful but there was hardly any fall. We stopped by the Mount Washington Cruises train station and clicked some pictures.

Silver Lake:

Our next attraction was Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire which was around couple of hours drive from Lake Winnipesaukee. On the way, we made a stop at Silver Lake in Harrisville. It was bright day and the view of the lake was brilliant.

We then took NH 101 East route towards Dublin which offered some beautiful fall foliage along with lake views.

Howe Reservoir:

Howe Reservoir was another point on Route 101. There was another lake, just few feet away from Howe Reservoir but on the other side of the road, offering beautiful display of fall colors. We then moved towards Mount Manodnock State Park.

Mount Monadnock:

Mount Monadnock state rock was not so crowded with tourists. We hardly saw some traffic inside the state park. The route 124 taking you through the park was scenic with mostly yellow colors indicating start of the fall foliage. The view of Mount Monadnock Mountain as seen from Perkins Pond on route 124 was absolutely amazing and photogenic.

Hogback Mountain, VT:

Our last stop of the day was Hogback Mountain in Vermont. It is located in the Marlboro town in southern Vermont and easily accessible on VT-9 route. There is Hogback Mountain gift shop on the route 9 and a boardwalk offering spectacular views of the Hogback Mountain. There are few hikes as well for enthusiasts.
