Lake Lure and Blue Ridge Parkway

Day 3 : Visit Lake Lure and Blue Ridge Parkway

This was the last day of our fall trip and the plan was to travel back home due to long drive. We checked out of the hotel around 8:30 am and took lot of pictures as view around the hotel was beautiful.

As we started driving, we took a pit stop at Lake Lure as the area was extremely scenic and beautiful. We parked and started exploring. View of mountains half covered with fog and various shades of trees around the lake was absolutely mesmerizing. There is a small beach on one side of the lake and park on the other. Park is small but has great views.

Before we could start our drive back to home, we discussed about revisiting the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway which we missed the other day. We decided to cover atleast 25-30 miles of Blue Ridge Parkway. We first pulled over at the Paul and Elsie Matthews overlook located around Chimney Rock Village. There was a creek with a beautiful view.

We took more pull outs as we moved along our way to Blue Ridge Parkway.

As we took exit to the parkway drive, believe me, we didn’t regret our decision to visit the scenic parkway as it was absolutely mind-blowing view and we felt as if our trip was a great success. The complete drive of 25-30 miles was exciting and there were several overlooks and pull outs on the way.

The more we drove along, the more we kept taking pictures of the beautiful road view.

It was around 2:00 pm local time. We were getting late as we had around 10 hour drive back to home. So we started our journey back to Florida. We took couple of breaks for lunch and dinner on our way. We reached home around 1:00 am.
