Date Tamarind chutney also known as sweet chutney or meethi chutney; is a sweet and tangy sauce. It is used in variety of Indian snacks.
Soak dates and tamarind separately in bowl of water.
In a pan, add soaked dates, tamarind and water. Cook for 6-8 min.
Now add jaggery and cook again until everything softens.
Let the jaggery dissolve completely. When mixture starts to thicken a bit, add the spice powders. Mix well and simmer for a minute or two.
Switch off the flame and let the mixture cool completely.
Blend the mixture into smooth puree. If required, add some water.
Now strain the puree using strainer to remove tamarind strings if any.
Our sweet date tamarind chutney is now ready. Let the chutney cool completely. Store the chutney in and airtight jar. Use as required by adding water.
