Batata Phodi are shallow fried potato slices. In konkani cuisine, these crispy and yummy phodi are served with rice, daal or tomato saar.
Peel the potatoes and make medium round/oval size slices. Keep these slices in a bowl of water.
In another bowl, mix semolina, turmeric, chilli powder and salt.
Now heat the griddle. Once hot, pour little oil.
Coat each potato slice in semolina mixture and place on the griddle.
Press the slices lightly using spatula. Pour some drops of oil around each slice if needed.
Once they start browning from one side, turn the slices.
Once cooked, remove from the griddle and serve hot with rice, daal or tomato saar. You can also munch on these as is.
