Happy Holi folks! India celebrates wide array of festivals every season. This has been part of it’s rich culture. The most colorful and fun festival of it all is Holi. People in different parts of India celebrate it with enthusiasm. On this occasion, I created a beautiful Canvas Art of Dream Catcher. Dream Catcher represents new hopes, dreams and above all protection from evil which perfectly symbolizes true spirit of Holi.
Let me give you some background on this festival of joy. Holi starts the night of the full moon where a religious ritual called ‘Holika Dahan‘ is performed. People gather around a big bonfire, sing, pray and offer coconut/sweets etc. to the fire. It is considered as a symbol of a new beginning by destroying evil within us. In Maharashtra, there is a tradition to prepare sweet stuffed roti called ‘Puranpoli’. It’s delish 🙂
Now coming onto the fun part of it. The next morning, people celebrate ‘Dhulivandan’ – Rangwali Holi‘. People hail ‘Happy Holi’ or ‘Holi Hai’ while they smear color on each other’s face. In addition to colors, they play with with water guns ‘Pichkari‘ and water balloons. In addition to playing, people enjoy Bhaang and Jalebi; which are the common snacks served during the fun event.
Let’s see what all we need to create this colorful art piece.
