With temperature reaching 93F, a soothing and refreshing drink is a must have. Kairi Panha, also known as Raw Mango Panha or Aam Panna or Green Mango Panna, is a popular drink in Mumbai. It is usually made at the onset of summer to beat the scorching heat.

This flavorful and healthy drink is made with just 3 ingredients. It not only quenches the thirst but also prevents dehydration. During summer, it is a popular drink in parties. One can also find it in the restaurants and shops in Mumbai. 

I always wanted to make this at home but never tried thinking the procedure would be complicated. As always, my mom came to the rescue and gave me this simple and quick recipe.

A soothing drink for summer made with green mangoes and jaggery.

Servings: 10 glasses
Ingredients
  • 2 Green Mangoes
  • 1 cup Jaggery
  • Black salt
How-To
  1. In a pressure cooker, add green mangoes and water. Cook for up to 3 whistles.

  2. After it’s done, transfer them into a bowl and let them cool.

  3. Peel the mangoes and take out the pulp. Remove seed.

  4. In a blender, add the pulp and jaggery. Blend into a smooth paste. Do not add water.

  5. Transfer the mix into a glass bowl and store it in a refrigerator.


Serving Suggestion :
  1. In a glass, add 2-3 tbsp of Panha mix.   

  2. Add cold water and black salt. Stir and mix really well.

  3. Top it with mint leaves and add ice if desired.

Recipe Notes
  • Panha mix can stay in the refrigerator for upto 2 weeks.
  • It can also be made with sugar instead of jaggery.
  • Cumin powder can be added for additional flavor.
